Dear colleagues and network partners,
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the first congress dedicated to the topic of nitrous oxide, organized by the PROTOSIDE network. To be held in Lille in March 2026, this interdisciplinary congress will bring together hospital and outpatient medicine, medical biology, French law and society to discuss this emerging topic that has become so important in our daily lives.
Since its creation in 2020, the PROTOSIDE network, which includes experts from a wide range of backgrounds, has been working every day to improve understanding of nitrous oxide-related issues, from both a medical and a societal point of view.
The aim is still to provide a strong basis for political and institutional debate on this new drug, and to communicate widely on the consequences of its misuse.
This congress is a unique opportunity to bring together all those involved in care and prevention, who work daily to care for these new victims, and to improve scientific and legal knowledge on the subject, through their presence in the field, their experience, and their desire, in order to offer them a forum for discussion and exchange.
Together, let's speak with one voice about the reality of nitrous oxide!
See you soon in Lille,
Dr Cécile Bossaert
President of the PROTOSIDE 2026 Congress - Member of the Société Française de
Emergency Medicine

Dear colleagues, Dear network members, Dear partners,
It is my pleasure and honor to announce that PROTOSIDE's first multidisciplinary congress will be held in Lille in March 2026. This event will mark a major milestone for our network, at the crossroads of our past actions, our present commitment and our future ambitions.
From the outset, PROTOSIDE's mission has been to bring together all those involved in the prevention, management and understanding of nitrous oxide poisoning. The project is resolutely multidisciplinary and collaborative, bringing together health professionals from all backgrounds, research teams, hospitals, associations, institutional representatives and partner learned societies.
The PROTOSIDE network, now boasting almost 700 members, is constantly expanding. It relies on a solid dynamic in the field, with several hospitals and centers of expertise throughout France, and is seeing the emergence of new international centers, a sign of the growing relevance of our actions in a global context.
Over the months, we have carried out numerous concrete initiatives: prevention campaigns, thematic training webinars, information stands at national events, structuring partnerships with learned societies, translational research projects, scientific publications, and constant awareness-raising work with public health authorities. It is these collective efforts that have enabled PROTOSIDE to become a benchmark in a field that is still too little explored.
The 2026 congress will be a unique opportunity to bring together all the driving forces behind PROTOSIDE for the first time. It is intended as a forum for exchange, reflection and perspective, where the expertise, practices and experiences of all those who work together to advance the prevention and management of the misuse of nitrous oxide will come together.
I invite you to reserve this date in your diaries. We're counting on your presence to make this congress a key moment of sharing, visibility and structuring for our network.
With all my gratitude for your commitment,
Guillaume GRZYCH
President of PROTOSIDE, member of the French Society of Clinical Biology
